Has anyone got any information regarding the 13th MTB Flotilla based out of Portsmouth.

Consisted of (06.1944): MTB 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 210, 211, 212.

I can find very little information on this Flotilla and its boats, those with lower or higher numberings are well documented but these not so.

Thanks

Kevin

Kevin
I had  discussion today about the banality of daytime TV with a sprightly man in his 90s who drinks most lunchtimes in my local in Chadderton, Oldham. He told me his was usually turned on for the news, but not much else, adding that he'd had enough of staring into a screen during the war. It turned out that he was a radar operator in the 13th MTB Flotilla, and was on duty for 18 hours during the night preceding D-Day.

If you'd like his contact details, please get in touch (I realise this may be a vain hope after eight years, but you never know!). Len Brenner

Hi Len,

Many thanks your last, sorry you did not get anything all these year ago now, my only though if of any use or interest, if you click the logo top left BMPT, see red tab for CFVA, they post stories of our veterans, such memories should be recorded for history, all the best,

Johnk

Hello ,

I've been looking to find some information about my father Alec Spear's wartime action and now know that during the war he was on the HMS Suffolk as well as on MTB 208 operating out of Portsmouth. I have found photos confirming this in an old album. I have managed to find out the names of the boats in the album, but he he never wrote where he was or when.

Can anyone tell me where these ships operated during the war. I know that the HMS Suffolk was in the North sea and then at some stage was sent to Egypt via South Africa. It then went on to Asia, but maybe that was after the war....

Thanks a lot,
Nina

Hi Kevin,

It's 10 years since you wrote in the forum, but my father was on MTB 208 during the war. This boat was operating out of Portsmouth and I have some photos which I found in an album. Apparently the boats were built in Cowes and MTB 208 was commissioned, I believe, in 1942.
