Here we are back on the BMPT forum after 11 years - or more!
I now have BP on my moorings safe and sound. She is advertised on several websites and the infamous EBay. After loosing the engines to the Anglia Maritime Association 10 years ago I let BP go to a 'restorer' and so she then went down the 'liveaboard' route.
The last owner just 'walked away' so I stepped in and made her watertight and gave her a lick of paint . Her hull is as good as ever and she takes very little water. Lots of the original equipment is fortunatley still in place.
I want her to go to a kind home and have so far been approached by a few decent people who have her well being in mind.
I do wonder if it would be possible to fit engines again as everything is still intact. (Cannot find the advert for the SM's on the BMPT website.)
If any body has any serious ideas, please let me know as I will require the mooring in a few months.

Hello Jamie

That unfortunate incident is long in the past. The AMT was quite rightly disbanded and stripped of it's charitable status.
The gent who was in charge was a person by the name of Hunt (Neil) who met his end in a car accident.
There are a few members of the 'trust' still around in Lowestoft.
I think the engines are still around somewhere - complete with gearboxes. I don't think it will be long before they turn up (it's a small world, the classic ships and vehicles).
Thank you for your offer and it makes me think that perhaps if any members do have any information as to the whereabouts of BP's engines I would be very grateful (£££!)

Thanks
Mark.

I have just bought Blue Peter and am in the process of arranging transport for her to Kent where I am going to restore her. I have a pair of Perkins 6.354 engines that I plan to put in her and am looking forward to getting her back to what she should be. I am lucky enough to have a good friend who is a shipwright and so he keep me on track with her.

It's good news for Blue Peter after all this time!
I am glad Alan has now taken her over and I have great faith in his ability to do a good professional job on the restoration.
All that's left is to get her safely down to his boat yard.

I am sure a lot of people will be relieved.

Mark.

Good news...look forward to hearing the updates.  Is there any plan to reinstate the centre shaft and engine?

its good she is going to a good home, but it boils my p_ss that the original engines have been stolen, and are still floating around somewhere, they will turn up in time, watch this space, all the best with the resto mate, Jamie
