Hi everybody, I hope somebody out there will be able to help identify these throttle controls. There was an old label attached stating 'MTB 414 - Broken Up Portsmouth Creek'. Whether this means anything to anybody or whether someone can tell me the type of boat they may have come from I would most appreciate it. Many thanks in anticipation. |

MTBs 412-418 were British Power Boat Co 71'6". I would hazard a guess that she had the "sexier" (according to Don ) deckhouse design like her close sister MTB416, also known as MGB81. Go to the main page and find her in "Select a Boat", there's plenty of info there.
You have to admit, he does have a point... Edited by Christian |

Hello 'cabrank' MTB414 was attached to the 1st MTB Flotilla (reformed with the 8th Flotilla in 1944) - based at HMS Beehive then 'Hornet at Gosport - CO was Lt F J Head RNVR. That is all I can drum up so far - I'll keep searching Regards Edited by Pioneer |

Hello cabrankm MTB 506 will hopefully be starting restoration in the near future and we'll be looking for parts exactly like this. If you'd be interesting in selling, trading or donating it, we'd love to hear from you. You can pm me if you have any bits to donate/trade or sell. Thanks Don |

Hi Don, Interesting comment, I had not given any thought to these controls of being of interest to anybody other than curiosity value. Until I came across the BMPT website I was not aware of the enthusiasm out there. Regards, Nick |

Hi Nick,
If I sold anoraks I'd be a millionaire! Well, bear us in mind if you do want to give the controls a second life! Cheers |

MTB414 was originally MGB77 (commanded by Lt Cmdr Robert Hichens). As MGB77 she carried a MkVIII 2pdr on a MkXVI mounting on the foredeck, a twin 20mm Oerlikon on a MkV power mount on the after coachroof and a Holman projector on the aft deck. As MTB414 she carried 6pdr 7cwt MkII gun on a MkVII mount on the foredeck, a twin manually operated 20mm Oerlikon in the place of the original powermount placement with cut down coachroof (presumably to lower the C of G?) and 18in torpedo tubes port and starboard with the twin Lewis 0.303 machine guns on saddles on top of the tubes. She paid of in Poole (Holes bay) in April 1945 and disposed of in October 1945 (presumably in Portsmouth). Hope this helps, even if it is 10yrs and 7 months late!!
