Hi NEU,
Located what I believe to be 2561 on www.flashearth.com on the following co-ordinates 50º 48' 22.3" - 0º 58' 17.4". There is also another large MTB type hull about 50 meteres to the West, any ID? |

I was a pupil at Felixstowe County Primary School when 'The Sea Shall Not Have Them' was being filmed. This was good enough to get the whole school down to Felixstowe Docks to look at 2561 and 2559 at anchor. But I was able to top that as my Dad was a 22 Sqn SAR helicopter pilot at (RAF) Felixstowe. He organized a ride out on one of the MCU boats to both 2559 & 2561 and I was able to spend some time exploring both craft. What a wonderful treat for a young lad ! I got my first cheap plastic camera about the same time and the very first photo I ever took was of 2561. Unfortunately it didn't turn out too well.
The film 'The Yangtse Incident' was filmed partially at Felixstowe around the same time.
I have good memories of Felixstowe at that time (1957-1960). Not only the 22 Sqn helicopters and the launches of the RAF Marine Craft Unit, but also the MGB's or MTB's stationed there in their sinister grey colour scheme. I don't think that I have read anything about these craft and why they were there.

Hi there,
Great stuff above, many thanks sx976, guess the MTBs might have been left after the end of Coastal Forces, think it was 1957, date is on the new veterans web-site, see home page of the BMPT site.

Hi All
Are there any restrictions/copyrights on the pictures posted on the BMPT forum, are they able to be downloaded and used for any other purpose please?

Hi Brian
Got your meaasge but busy all weekend. Sorry I've no more info on 2561 other than the few pics I took of her. As far as pics go, pics that I've taken and uploaded can be copied, borrowed etc etc! As far as I'm concerned anything I post on a forum becomes public property! Not sure about any rules though! |

Only yield when you must, never "give up the ship," but fight on to the last "with a stiff upper lip!"
