Just a quick update . I have managed to get hold of a pair of Perkins S6m engines which were the correct original engines. Assuming they are all ok after some tlc I will use these instead of the pair of 6354 perkins engines that I had planned to use. If anyone has any spares for the S6m engines they are prepared to sell then I am interested in buying them. Merry Xmas everyone.

Here are a few photos to show how the repairs to Blue Peter are progressing. To summarise we have replaced most of the cabin structure above deck level apart from the wheelhouse ( which has been repaired) and most of the frames and bulkheads have been renewed. Still a bit to go but hoping to give her a run later in the year.

Hi Alan,
Fantastic! when you said you were replacing planks I thought she would be ashore for a while! but clearly not of course, great to see her afloat, if you are underway this year, do give us a call at Chatham Marina, appreciate not all that far away for a trip come to think of it.....but still, be great to see an historic craft with us.....well done and all the best, Johnk |

Hi Alan,
Great news there, was just thinking another RASC vessel is at Cuxton...Amiens I think, see her on the river on high days in the summer, glad to hear no major suprises there, see another craft now home at RAF Hooten park, HSL 2552, bit more to do on her as you can see from the web-site, see links page here. I really do admire you guys taking on these wooden historic craft, Medway Queen in steel of course, patched and painted her but nothing more on the old hull...now of course brand new so cheated a bit! all the very best,
Johnk

Just a quick update on progress on Blue Peter. I have started replacing the rotten frames on the starboard side. Although there are a lot to replace, the good news is that access is remarkably easy and so far the condition of the structure of the boat is as we expected ie no unexpected horrors have appeared yet.
