I went to see HSL2548 in Spain last summer and have had some people
doing research into her owner and transport from her current location.
To cut a long story (and it is a long story) short, I have located the owner (not happy about his silly asking price) and know a yard in France (just across the spanish border) that could store her for a modest fee. I need to find a cradle to put her on as one side has been cut away. I have some photos of the exterior & I'll put us a rough web site if anyone is interested. I also have some ww2 original ASR photos I can put up, again if anyone is interested. I wonder if anyone knows where a boat mover who could cradle crane & move her? Thanks Don |

Hi Don, Is she a whaleback? If so I'm definitely interested in your photo's as I'm getting together the bits and pieces for a modelling project on a whaleback.

Hi Bob,
I've cobbled together a simple web site with a load of photos of old, mainly WW2, boats. There are quite a few photos of models of the 63' HSL (whaleback). It's at http://www.rania.co.uk/boat%20photos/ST Regards Don |

Hi Don, Thanks for that link it looks a bit forlorn when it's not in it's natural element.Do you intend to restore her to her original configuration etc...? And bring her back to the UK? My interest in these was sparked when I found out there'd been a RAF ASR detachment in my home town during the war. I'm trying to find info and pictures so I can make a model of one of the local craft. Cheers, Bob |

Hi,
From memory, 15,000 euros. I'd have to check. Are you interested in restoring her? Cheers Don |

Don, As an ex RAF Marine Fitter and Archivist for the British Military Powerboat Trust, I wonder if you could keep me informed of your progress with the 63ft Waleback, I can even tell you whetre the name "Waleback" originated. Clive |

Don:
You might bge interested to know my father seved in 2548. My brother Andy and I went to see her in Spain a couple of years back. Also I'm a writer and I have written a book - not yet accepted for publication - which involves her. It's not actually about her but it features 2548 and the ASR. I'll let you know when and if it's accepted by a publisher. I do have a couple of old wartime photos of 2548, and will see what can be done about posting them. They're pretty standard stuff, though. I'm surprised you think there's much chance of restoring her, but good luck with the project. Please keep us all informed. TIM |
