We are We areWe
We are a small group planning a Maritime Museum in Boston, Lincolnshire, centred around RAFMCU 1109 at Boston Docks and HMS Arbella (the old St Johns Workhouse). We are looking for an example of a 43 Foot RSL and the two boats we know were paid off in 1958...we are told that these two craft were sold to be converted into houseboats and possibly still exist perhaps on the inland waterways of East of England. We are also looking for interested people in the Lincolnshire Wash Area as volunteers for fundraising and acquiring artefacts etc.

We are also planning a Short Respite Breaks Boat for Veterans with PTSD based on the Witham Trent Waterways based at Arbella Project Boston...a 6-8 berth Narrowboat if we can acquire a cheap (dirt cheap or donated)and seaworthy enough one to start with....know of someone fed up with a renovation who is accessible to the area?....we have the promise of help from RAF Coningsby (1109 CMU Parent Unit).

Hello there,

Just spotted your last and most interesting post, not sure a lot to add other than kind words..based in sunny Kent so...but what a great idea for sure, um, re vessels, yes that is possible, can only direct to yacht/boat brokers, perhaps sure you know, advert in local press perhaps, Facebook etc...an ex coastal craft.. not aware of any, perhaps past but ones I can think of gone now, hope perhaps the boston boats may still be about as you say..in houseboat form...I work with the Medway Queen Preservation Society, not the same thing I know but a heritage vessel...well, again, not more than words but very best with the project,

Johnk

The listing ended months ago but it may be worth contacting the seller to follow up;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/project-boat-/262216061504?nma=true&si=V2x0r0C2IC6rGJJV6LStHgR7pLs%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

edited; just heard back from seller this boat was sold only 2 weeks ago

Hi Christian,

Great to hear from you there, ah what a pity, always the way...perhaps other craft around, again perhaps....new owner might consider as for such a worthy project...all the best,

Johnk

Thanks for replies...We now have our boat...a 43 1/2 foot Seaplane Tender Mk1 badly in need of restoration but we will get her seaworthy....
What we do need is a cradle for her....or someone in the West Midlands to make one up for her...RAF JART have agreed to transport her if she is cradled for their 40' low-loader.... any suggestions...any contacts...? any help...enormously appreciated... Contact via FB Boston Maritime Museum Page...
