Hello Clive

Looks like a model of the Fast Yacht "Mercury". A 'one off ' built for an Italian. This was later to become "Brave Challenger" and can still be seen at Gun Wharf Portsmouth (can also be seen at Google Earth - next to HMS Warrior)

In the 1938 Navy Estimates the details relating to M.T.B's was ~

M.T.B No. 101 (the Boat of special design ordered under the 1936 programme from Messrs. J. S. White and co., of Cowes), £36,760.

M.T.B No. 102 (Messrs. Vosper Ltd., Portsmouth) £22,529.

No help i know but i just thought id add it for curiosty value.
