Hello there,

Does anyone know of any 60ft RAF Pinnaces or RN versions that are being or have been broken in the recent past or are lying derelict somewhere? I am trying to replace some of the items stolen from Caprella (421250), a Royal Navy version of the RAF Pinnace, things such as rudders, prop shafts, portholes cowl vents etc that may otherwise go to the scrap merchant but are invaluable to the restoration project being as accurate as possible. Caprella should be undercover in a shed by the end of the summer, ready for work to start in earnest.

All the best

Hi Caprella

I was looking at her a couple of years ago and had a divorce not scuppered it I would have taken her.
There is a 60' pinnace lying on the Dockside at the Scottish Maritime Museum at Irvine with a broken back after their neglect, she was taken by Northeastuser ( a member) and he actually offered me the shafts at the time, I hope he can help put a lovely old girl back in the water.
Where is she now I know that she had gone to Banff area I would love to see her again.

Hi Andy

I Have contacted the museum about 1262 but she has been stripped over the years of most items of value such as portholes and rudders etc by thieves and the hull will shortly be broken up by the museum to make way for work on the Carrick / Adelaide nearby, a great shame but she has been allowed to go too far to be repaired.
Caprella is near Huntly in Aberdeenshire, we will be moving her to a shed near the Aberdeen coast to carry out the work that is required, fortunately she is very sound but missing fittings and in need of a fair amount of other work. I will post some photos once some progress has been made.

Andrew
