Hi all,

Not a boat and I will delete the topic if there are no responses. Did not know where else to post.

The RNZAF used gallons of a product called "Lion Oil" in Fiji to protect all metal surfaces on aircraft and boats. Up until the '70's.

Does anyone know of a source now please?

It was originally developed in the USA as a concrete sealer and made under licence in NZ. All manufacture of this product appears to have ceased, whether by superceded chemicals or no longer pc correct, I do not know.

I need to discover the ingredients for a similar purpose.

cheers,

Art

Thanks Christian.

I was using Deks Olje 30 years ago on Guadalcanal building boats.

Lion Oil has different characteristics and is a more viscous product although achieving the same outcome.

Owatrol/Polytrol is thicker than Deks Olje D1, oily rather than watery consistency.

It sounds as though you may want to try G4 sealer.

Very thick, like golden syrup.
