I have recently completed a 1/24th model of MTB 778, a Fairmile Type D, circa 1944.  I have little information regarding the real vessel: service history, actions etc. as well as fate.  Can anyone help?

Mike

Here is a pic of the model...

She has an LOA of 58" and a beam of 11", 4 motors and shafts operated as 2 pairs and I recently fitted a sound module featuring a digitised recording of the real Packard 2500 V12's.

Hello Mike,

Re fate of MTB 778

According to the 'Bible's' (Allied Coastal Forces of WW2 - Vol 1) - MTB 778 was completed in Nov 1944 (Dorset Yacht Co . Poole) - became 'attached' to the Sea Cadet Corp (Purfleet) in 1946 and was finally sold on 25 7 '55.

Hi Christian

Had a quick look at the D and the other models via the WWW button: fantastic work.  Love the D especially.  Interesting to see an early model without the scallops: looks great, well done.
