Just helped PR22 onto the slipway at Turks boatyard in the Chatham Historic Dockyard for re-paint, anodes and replacing doubling plating in the fore end. Very interesting to dock a vessel in the yard, did not think I would ever do that, albeit a 23 metre patrol boat! useful facility there now, alternative to craning.

Hi Richard and Tranmontana, Indeed, a regular habit of course, albeit "new" to me! re records of dry docked ships at Chatham, there are a number of books published about the dockyard with great photos, unfortunatley none of which I have personally but a search on the trusty web should un-earth them, the dockyard itself will sell them in the visitor centre, and there is a big library of books and papers and photos of the yard, although this in not open to the general public, but by apointment, but well worth a look as I have done. Althoug opening hours will be restricted soon with winter upon us, well worth a visit if down this way. JohnK |

Spent last three weeks cutting into main fuel tank in order to clean due to no access being provided in 1952. Found large amonts of sludge though not much considering 55 years of usage. goes to show bottom off take tanks are inherently cleaner than top off take tanks. Once clean found some graffiti. "Mr Schottman" did a very good job of constucting the tank it seems. Photographs to follow. Another job done.

Seems she is getting some well earned TLC... Good to see she is still about.

Hi Jim,
Many thanks for these, brings back some memories there! yes she is still going strong, due for slipping at Turks yard soon, don't think we will be doing another lift ashore as seen in the pics, all the best,
Johnk

Hi there,
Just latest on PR 22/Velo 2, she has now been sold to a new owner, who intends to keep her as is, and take her to Ramsgate on Monday to meet up with the Dunkirk little ships, he has got "new" guns and shields for the mountings, which look good. Good that the great work done by previous owners John and Tracie is being continued. Johnk |

Hi there,
Yes just further to the above, received picture from the new owner of him taking part in the new film about Dunkirk, apparently was rejected, which OK as a 1949 built vessel perhaps understandable, but then turned up any way and they said fine, using as Admirals launch, up load...bit beyond me! but coming along side a minesweeper with fake gun turrets!..a few authentic vessels there but...well, perhaps we may see a new film about CF, we certainly thankfully have a few authentic vessels to use...all the best, Johnk |
