Hello northeastuser, I had no idea that you were one of the debtor's, although I was on holiday my purpose in going to Malta involved Military Craft research and as you are fairly new to the game it involves being armed (courtesy of A.N.Other)with a list of vessels that were last seen at Malta and in Ambra's case finding out what was her exact "expiry" date and was she chopped up and burnt. this then completes her history and effectively we have closure on this vessel and she passes into History, that is how it is done. As I was walking around the yard with list and camera I was approached by this chap and we had a conversation about ex Military Craft, I asked him what was  the date and eventual fate of the Ambra and I got a bit of an earbashing about people going over there using the facilities and not paying for them and did I know anything about them. Fortunatly the  Wife phoned me to meet for lunch and I swiftly made my exit from the yard. No I did not get his name as I just wanted to get away, nevertheless I did make a contact there and I will try and find out who he was.
When I saw Osprey over ten years ago she was a nice looking boat and had been well cared for as her then Owner was trying to get backing to use her as a Youth Training Vessel, for her to go for that price even in todays market tells me she must have suffered a lot of damge but she is still a cracking looking boat with her deckhouse extension which in my view impoved her looks as well as being a practical addition.

Hi there,

Most interesting, agree re Osprey, a great shame and as you say, must have suffered quite abit to go for the money, saw at 50,000 ealier post, picture showed anchor bashed into starboard hull, not good, when you see the exstent needed to remove hull planking to fix DD properly, the vandalism and theft, still, perhaps as gone so cheap, new owner will have plenty of money to sort her out.

ohh I wallked right into that one Tramontana. Hope it gave you a smile when you were composing you reply. lol
for the record,.Iam not a 'Debtor' to the boatyard. My post was in refrence to the boatyard looking for those involved. My mistake. However it is public information that I was involved.
The boatyard has my details,  I would think that if the boatyard required more information they would have been in contact direct.
It sounds like you were taking to someone who works in the yard rather than the owners.
I am surprised that you place much stock in 'gossip'. Talking to the owners would have given you a much better understanding of the situation.
If you had wanted info re the fate of the Ambra all you had to do was ask. There are pictures available of the Ambra being dismantled. I would have thought your first port of call for information about the Ambra would have been those involved? The information may have been more accurate than gossip in a boatyard.

In Billy's defence... We all gave what we could to the ambra project. In the case of myself & Billy, we agreed to give time as long as we had food & lodgings(obviously Billy spent a lot more time in Malta than myself as he has an understanding wife). Don put time & money into her and was very much the voice of reason at times. Poor old Sentley nearly put himself in a pine box trying to raise the funds! The warboat company tried and failed. Ambra was at the end of her usefull life so we didn't so much fail as delay the inevitable!
Personally i'd happily work with Don, Billy, Sentley & Mark again! The will is there, we just need to find a way of doing it
A boat is a hole in the water surrounded by wood, into which one throws money
