   Hi All,
Can anyone suggest a reasonably priced deck covering that can be applied over ply and painted over. Had (very) limited success with painted canvas. Perhaps I had wrong type of canvas.

All ideas welcome.

	Hi don,I used a wood called orolco on my tender which i got off ebay had it planed down to 12 mm so its not to heavy and it cost me around 400.00 including the planing,dont look too bad either.

	Thanks Rikky. I was thinking of trying a deck covering like treadmaster (or preferably something cheaper). Have you planked and caulked your decks? It would be very tempting to try but maybe with the next boat when my skills are up to it. I've used sapele throughout the boat as it is very similar to mahogany and quite cheap. Tried iroko but the sample I tried didn't seem to plane well. Have you photos of your tender ( and the decks!)? Would love to see some. Cheers Edited by dgray

	Hi don,i have done one side and the bow section just got to get the sander on it,Ihavent used caulk as was told the best thing to go for is marine sikkaflex,so i did,I t seems to be doing the trick,at least so far,I have used sapele to replace all the rotten boards so at least i got that right,My tender is the one in the yardarm section on page two ex pembrooke puffin got loads of pictures but i took them with a standard camera i sent most to richard at bmpt.Its still needs loads doing.been on it around 18 months now and it dont look like i have done anything,Is that the same with yours?My daughter has some pictures on her camera i will see if she can send them to you but will need your email address.Are you doing yours back to original.Thanks,Rick

	Hi Don, Medusa are decking with marine ply covered with planks to give the original effect while making the job more managable and keeping the price down. Don't know what they used to caulk if anything.

	Hi Rikky, Yes, I'm trying to get her back to near original pre-war colours. I've bought another, a 41.5' one (Che Sera on the boats for sale section.) and that will need a lot of work too. I hope to paint her in a wartime colour scheme, and perhaps fit her as an ASR ST. I don't have her number so I don't know anything of her service history. They do grow on you these old Seaplane tenders. I seem to use Sikaflex 291 everywhere, on the house windows too when needed! Did yours have a forward cockpit originally and is she a British Powerboats build? A few photos of my little ST is at www.rania.co.uk/ST Well good luck with your project. hey do take time. 	Hi don,She did have a forward cockpit origanlly as i have seen a picture from the 40s but i got it with this superstructer,I think that if i had taken it off and built a origanal type it wouldnt be far off completion,to late now as i have spent a small fortune up to now,Yes a british power boat make,Was the origanal color black for these type of boat?I dont know if you know this but i was told to paint stripper the paint to try and find the number ahd roundel and after many hours work i got them engraved in the wood.So might be worth a trY,You never know,So you have two tenders then?Seen the one at rania,Looks nice and solid,Was che on ebay a while back?Are moorings available for this type of craft any where as i am trying to get mine in the water somtime this year.Is any of yours on the water.Soon as my daughter works out how to load pictures on i will get her to send them to you.Thanks,Take care,Rick.

	Hello Don If price is critical and your ply decks sound and capable of being sealed with epoxy. You could try painting with "ProtectaKote" or similar. http://www.protectakote.co.uk/index.htm Of corse this adds no strength or thickness but it is non slip, tough and clean looking as well as not relying on sand to bulk it out.

	Hi Dave, Thanks for the tip. Has anyone used this stuff on boats? It looks very interesting but I wonder how it wears over the long term and if you can overpaint/repair it. I'll contact them on Tuesday Thanks again.

	Hello all. Please can you help. Just spent all day removing toilet seacocks and anodes from Petrel only to confirm that I have fallen into the "Blakes Seacocks gone metric and gone cheap trap". i.e. the new ones have smaller through hull tube diameter and bolt hole PCD. I'm now going to have a go at resurrecting the originals but if that fails does anyone know of a supplier of the old dimension type? If I can fix them up then the two new ones I bought will be on e.bay soon. Any thoughts welcome Thanks
