I have been trying to find details of the production of light craft by Groves and Guttridge of Cowes, Isle of Wight, for the Royal Navy and RAF during WWII.
The most common type seems to have been a "General Service Pinnace" of which 200 were built over 1941-44. It was 60ft long and could make 13-17 knots. It seems to have been used for air/sea rescue. One source says, "The bulk of the boatbuilding included 30ft. and 60ft. Admiralty fast boats, 60ft. General Service and Admiralty, 55ft. Fast Harbour Despatch boats, 45ft. Lifeboats and 71ft. RAF Launches. The lifeboats were for the RNLI and information is available on line. Is there any online, or other source, that has pictures of the other types, their specifications and, most importantly, a production list for Groves & Guttridge that includes service identification numbers? Many thanks for an assistance, Mark Axworthy

Is there an "Edit" function? I posted before proof reading and can't seem to find a way to tidy it up.
