As those who have been following the progress of 2552 via the website know things are starting to move along. She is drying out nicely and we are currently clearing her out, we have spent 3 weekends so far hoovering the bilge and removing the debris that has accumulated over the years. We estimate that we have removed around 1 1/2 to 2 tonnes of "crud", rubbish is piling up under the boat and also on her, we'll be ordering a skip in a couple of weeks to dispose of this rubbish.
Below is one of the before photos: ![]() Here is the after photo ![]() I've put down a new temporary floor made out of scaffolding boards, permanent mains power is now on board, all waterproof and correct cable etc. I've built new stairs to access her to make it safer to get on and off ![]() and I've also built a display board for visitors to her explaining who she is, what she is and our journey with her so far. ![]() We have also built the jigs that will be used to make the new boat frames, the first of the large pieces of mahogany has been cut down to do a trial frame, over the next couple of weeks I'll be building the jig that we will use to make the deck beams, at that point we'll be able to start on the woodwork. I'm looking at paint suppliers at the moment as I'll need to prime the frames and beams once they are installed to prevent issues with UV and the epoxy resins we'll be using, its all going to be 2 pack paint and I want to stick to a single manufacturer so that there are no compatibility problems between coats etc. |
