I thought we needed a topic where we can share tips on materials and tools.
I've spent the morning roving after investing is a set of roving tools from the Traditional Boat spares. A bit expensive maybe but worth every penny. Makes a tedious job enjoyable as they are a pleasure to use. They'll last a lifetime. Have a look at: http://www.tradboats.com/toolroving.html |

Best tip so far I've learnt is to save old yoghurt pots, butter tubs and the like for the those small touch-up jobs. They save wasting a large amount of whatever (epoxy, glass fibre stuff, paint) and keeps the mess down too.
Oh, and invest in a pack of those disposable gloves- 100 for a quid or whatever they are over there! You can wear them over most gloves to stop you getting covered with unspeakable substances- old diesel, bilge water, paints etc. |

High end tools : Fein Multimaster good for removing old caulking, deck coverings and cutting through nails etc to remove planks!
Low end tools: Handfulls of wooden coffee stir sticks pinched from McD's or Costa...great for mixing glue, resin, paint, coffee etc! M |

Only yield when you must, never "give up the ship," but fight on to the last "with a stiff upper lip!"
