Hello to all, I was so delighted to see the pictures of Sabre Restored in Germany as i was a crew member in the late 70's as navigators yeoman in the Royal Navy. She gave me many memories and i thought that she was lost !!! I was a crew member on Sabre when we broke down off the Hook of Holland and we had to return to Britain down the Dutch canals"what an experience" not to mention the numerous traing runs we carried out when stationed at Portland.I also remember when Scimitar or Cutlass ran into the breakwater at the channel islands. Do you know any former crew members ? Regards Dave Edited by Dave |

Hello,
Seeing the above shots, remember a colour poster of them at my sea cadet unit many moons ago now! and vague recollection of them appearing in a pop video with dancing girls along the hand rails! also appearing on a deck of recognition cards from my grand father, an ex naval officer who was a boy midshipman before the war, served during, and post war on mine sweepers. Hi Dave I only have one photo of sabre in heavy seas and a pewter tankard that all the crew at the time had made and engraved. I see that many people think that it was scimitar that hit the breakwater in alderney but it was sabre, I have seen the photo of sabre after the restoration in germany, looks nothing like it. Soon I hope to be involved in the restoration in an RAF air sea rescue boat that is in sussex that belongs to a friend who I believe bought it from one of the crew who was on sabre the same time as me, this i have to confirm with a phone call but this person has the same name as the Po that was with me. 5 years on glamorgan, a long time, I was at sultan before I joined sabre and the tiff at the time only lives a few miles from me. my phone number is 01273 462127 or 07789676946 if you want a contact regards Barry Edited by Barryg |

I think Sabre is the boat I found on a slipway on Cyprus, do you know any ex Andrew who live on Greek Cyprus who might be interested in looking for her?
