Today (17th July 2012) I was at West Mersea and was able to take these shots of HSL 145. She is well past saving as previously mentioned but I think that the Transom is not too far gone to rule out possible salvage. Quite sad to see her looking so bad but she still carries her Stern ID proudly. ![]() Edited by Pioneer - 17 July 2012 at 8:42pm |

Hi there,
Thanks Scott for the post on Marcia, she at least still serves and exists under you care, 145...yes, had not noticed the number still exstant there, about as you say the only thing left of her that could at least be seen to remember her by..... of course we would like to see the whole thing, saw posts on CFV site on Higgins being done in America, but what an effort......

Went down to see 145 a few weeks back.
She is well past it now. Most of the side planking just above the chines is rotten from bow to stern. The transom is pretty shot, the hole in the side is now even bigger and the stbd deck is like the alps where the gunwhale has snapped/rotten.

Clive,
She looks pretty much the same as the last posted pics, except the chunk of side planking hanging on has now come away. I am in touch with the boat yard who still have a hold on her as she has a lot of the woodwork (still useable) which is missing out of MASB 27. The sea will take her before long and she is way past restoration but hopefully she can provide a lease of life for another whaleback.
