There is evidence for their having once been a mast. Their was a cut out section in the bow gunnel to accomodate a winch, and a huge iron plate with a large peice of u channel on top all cast in one piece on the keelson. Would make a lovely sailing barge if grant money was available for such things. Send me a link if u can think of any orginisation that might provide funds for hull repairs.

"I have now remembered some correspondence concerning the Admiralty 58ft High Speed Towing Lighters H1-H4 (1917) built by Thornycroft.  A seaplane lighter of this type later became a workboat at the Hampton yard numbered HLW 3 and then T3.  It was recently acquired by the Fleet Air Arm Museum, where it will undergo restoration before being displayed as an example of an early aircraft carrier" Graham Thompson

Can any one supply photos or information of T3 at Hendon?.

From a reliable source, it would appear that it is thought the "T" stands for Thornycroft rather than I thought it would be for a Training Squadron vessel at Dartmouth, although she does have the look of an ex-Navy pinnace. Interesting about the mast footing, does she have any signs of oar scallops along the hull sides as she could have been a former RN 100man sailing/pulling boat as fitted to WW1 battlewagons before Thornycrofts bought her and stuck an engine in. In regards to funding unless she is classed as an exceptional find like the Lighter, the only funding available will unfortunatly be via "boat T4's" bank account.
