I am trying to get information/photos/stories on Vosper MTB 30 and her crew. I have found an illustration of the boat in the Osprey book 'British Motor Torpedo Boat 1939-45' and have very basic builder's information/data and when she sank. Anything would be wonderful. ------------- Tim D |

hiya tim d got a book with following info mtb 30built 1939-40 no 29 30 were replacement boats for nos 20-21 war losses 1942 29-30 got photo of mtb 34 only sorry this is from the warships of world war 11 by ht lenton -jj colledge 1964 hope this helps mickrik ------------- happy to meet you all |

MTB30. Vosper design built by Camper and Nicholson delivered July 1940. Sunk by mine in the North Sea December 1942. Two pics of her in Allied Coastal Forces of WW2 by Lambert & Ross. Also pic in British Coastal Forces of WW2 by Paul J Kemp.Also mentioned several times in Home Waters MTBs and MGBs by Len Reynolds. Had a short but eventful life. 29 & 30 built as replacements for 20 & 21 which were sold to Rumania. 20 was sunk in 1941 and 21 survived the war. ------------- If it ain't broke don't fix it! |

From Home Waters MTBs and MGBs At War 1939-1945, by L.C.Reynolds. The timeframe is late 1940. The next 2 pages follow on from the above;
January to March 1942, Home Waters MTBs;
April to June 1942, Home Waters MTBs;
October to December 1942, Home Waters MTBs;

Hello Tim, I have only just joined this forum. According to details from the Royal Navy archives, my father Bryan Cousens was a stoker on MTB30. The first time he is mentioned as being stationed at HMS Beehive is 7th August 1942 and the final date is 12 March 1943. The last time he is listed as serving on MTB 30 is 24th November 1942 although I don't know if this was the final time he sailed in her. I would be interested to know if you have any further information on who served on MTB 30 during this time and who was on board when she was blown up. In fact, I would be interested in any details regarding the crew and life at that time at HMS Beehive. Many thanks Sue |

Hello Sue The veterans web site's http://cfv.org.uk/mess-deck/coastal-forces-casualties" rel="nofollow - Casualty Database gives details of casualties suffered on two dates - 7th June 1942 and 18th December 1942. Reply to 'Susan' re-MTB 30. I have lots of photos re-MTB 30 which was sponsored by the town of Romsey and the village of Sherfield English, Hampshire during WW2. There was a commemorative plaque concerning MTB 30 in the Romsey Town Hall, but it seems to have disappeared recently.....I know that it is storage, but I have photos of it and other documents.
