The BMPTrust received an interesting e-mail from M Beaujuge Yves St Nazaire France and it is worth quoting in part- "Sir, I am an inhabitant of Saint-Nazaire and I exercise as profession harbour sailor. Since the age of my 12 years I navigate the entrance of the Loire and it is toward the age of 14 years that I began to ask questions on the wreck of Lancastria and it was not easy because the old sailors were not very communicative on this wreck, it is so at about the 1980's that I knew about a little more on this disaster, maintaining I am 44 year old and am a captain on the pilot boat to Saint-Nazaire....."

The e-mail continues with a request for assistance for the setting up of a Web site dedicated to the "Lancastria" and the circumstances  that led to the tragedy and of course the bravery shown by those involved including the "Nazairians" that gave succour to survivors.

The request is for any information, particularly documents etc, and he can be contacted at > mailto:Lancastria44600@aol.com - Lancastria44600@aol.com <

With reference to the above request I have tried to contact M Beaujuge Yves at the e-mail address as shown and have had the mail returned. I would suggest to those interested to visit > http://www.lancastria-association.org.uk - www.lancastria-association.org.uk < where a detailed account of the incident and fitting tribute to all those souls caught up in the tragedy is made.
