I wonder if anyone could answer a query I have. I am in the process of building the Whaleback air sea rescue launch; and, either side of the cabin, say roughly about mid-ships; there are two items either side. They look like question marks. I was wondering - does anyone know what they are? Are they air intakes or vents perhaps? Or, are they some form of securing hook - but to me they look too large to be that . Dont know.Replies:

Hi John They are gooseneck vents as you guessed, I haven't got a close-up photo of one I'm afraid. |

hi all, the picture I have posted above - this is the model I am in the process of constructing. It's the 63 foot whaleback - she has been built to the scale of 5/8 of an inch to the foot - she is double diagonally planked - the inner planking is Obechi and the outer planking is mahogany. The mahogany planking is to scale 3mm wide x 0.5 mm thick. It is the same construction on the deck - as you can see I have not finished the deck painting yet - she is powered by three Graupner speed 600s driving 30 mm props - all left hand. see what you think. aye, john e |

| Outstanding, frankly no other word does it justice. A brave decision to go for all LH props as it will walk sideways and only do sharp turns to starboard! |

Hi there Christian I have an onboard mixer on the model, which controls the two outer motors and propellers, but, I am negotiating with a guy to produce a mixer for the three motors - where - when we turn to either port or starboard, it slows the centre motor down by at least 50% to try and counteract the sharp turn. aye, John with fingers crossed
