As some may of guessed, and others may know already, I'm the current caretaker of the White Lady, the MSPB that was for sale by newsons until recently.
She was built at Thornycroft of London and is constructed of double diagonal planked mahogany over oak frames as opposed to
most earlier vessels which appear to be Teak Carvel and a Mahogany Diag inner layer.
She was stationed
at Port Edgar (HMS Lochinvar) from 43-68 before being transfered to
south wales in the navy reserves, then from 1971 she became QHM Launch in
devonport
before finally being sold to Brundall, Norfolk in 1981,
I eventually
bought her this year. She still has her original Gardner 6LWs
However a bit of mystery has been brought into the mix today by the owner of 44320, which also spent most of her time in devonport as one of his sources records the MSPB QHL of the day being broken up after hitting a submarine towing bouy.

Hi there,
Very nice indeed, seen here on the Newsons site before, I am going to ask what dose MSPB stand for? applies to the ex HMS Nuthatch else where on the forum, as ever if you are on the Medway, give Chatham Marina a call in advance and we will see what we can do.
(by the way I am not on commission re Chatham, just like to see interesting vessels)

it appears 44322 was the original QHM Launch which hit the submarine towing bouy and was wrecked.

John, just curious did you see White Lady when you were up at Newsons earlier this year or did you just stay inside and look at Spitfire?

Hi Whitelady,
Yes, had the tour of Spitfire with Keith and then had to go to see SS Robin at Small and Co down river, so no did not see her then, was there a couple of years ago now with with friends who were looking at berthing there and vaguely remember seeing her afloat then.

Hi there,

Yes we are still at newsons and would only slip her at newsons as I would be reluctant to trust a lift hoist operator with her hull. (I saw Spitfire in the flesh!!!)
We are now due out in mid september as several of the vessels on the small slipway ran overdue due as occasionally happens (not newsons fault)
I have been told that around november our Starboard engine is to be repaired by the engineer from Newsons and then she should be pretty much set to go. (not that we truely have anywhere to go to!)
But these are the joys of a liveaboard.

Hello there,
Indeed, having seen Spitfire on the forum and in the flesh post the excellent repair, quite agree that old wooden ships need great care! although your slipping is delayed good news that the yard is busy, many thanks,

Well we are presently on the newsons small slipway, very happy with what we found she has only needed a few anodes, a repaint to the hull as last years job didnt take too well and one small repair to the wooden doubler along the hull.
Im awaiting one Engine to be repaired and hopefully we will be up and running.

Well Like Clive, It is with much regret that I report the White Lady is for sale.
I've been unemployed for a fair time and my Wife's limited wages are not enough to give the poor old girl the attention a wooden vessel craves.
She's still in good shape so now is the best time to let her go on to another owner who can provide the preventative maintenance she could ever need.
However she is fully specc'd as a liveaboard, her paint work is presently a little poor.

White lady, your slogan should read "you dont own a boat until you have paid for it", and the pics on the Nelson site are ones I took 2 years ago, what does she look like now.
------------- restore and improve but in the same way as before.

White Lady is now Sold and will remain at Newsons under her new ownership.
Shame to let her go but she needs care that I could not offer her.
Wooden boats are an expense that my wife and I can not afford.
