Two weeks ago the owners of the boat yard, where 'Zeta' has resided for the last few years, finally decided that they would cut her up with chain-saws, as they were fed up with with her taking up valuable space and getting no income! Two potential buyers were unable to finalise purchase. However they gave me two days grace so that I could take some photos. Several phone calls later, the MTB102 trust wholeheartedly agreed to take her, as she was a 'Brooke Marine' boat built in Lowestoft, a price was negotiated with the boatyard, their proviso was that she had to be gone within two weeks. Again several phone calls later transport was arranged. 'Zeta' was loaded yesterday, and is due to be delivered to Newsons this afternoon. This arrangement is being funded by a temporary loan until funds can be obtained. The transport costs are £700, some donations have already been promised but other offers will be very welcome, the most effective method would be to use the 'gift aid' system via the MTB102 trust (for every £100 donated good old Gordon Brown will give £28 making a total of £128 - What a nice bloke!) details available at http://mtb@online.co.uk - mtb@online.co.uk Richard and Keith at Newsons have come up with an opportunity for you folk who would like 'hands-on' and practical involvement with 'Zeta's' restoration - they are hoping to be able to provide volunteer accommodation, (so book your holidays with the 102/Newsons leisure centre!) So there we are, we've saved one! I will post some photos when I get a chance and hopefully Richard and Keith will keep us up to date with progress.

Oh and P.S I'm sure I may be able to put something towards the restoration, albeit only a small amount financially as I've got my MSPB to look after too.
If I can be of any assistance with the restoration please do not hesitate to contact me Richard.

What excellent news, unfortunatley Lewina wasn't so lucky (as I understand it both boats were owned by the same gent). What happened to Zeta's engines, are they still with her or is a search now on for 2 S6M's?

Yes, great pics of Zeta in the shed, did not know Lewina was owned by the same guy, great pity she met her end in breaking, as I say, will try and offer what I can,

I believe so, though can't confirm it, Lewina unfortunatley came to a similar fate, the moorings owner got fed up of waiting and put a match to her, rediculous really since I was in negotiations to go down and view her, but she was cut up before I got there!

Work has already started on Zeta although we anticipate this being a long term project. If anyone would like to help this project funds are required as we have to pay the private loan back and the transport costs. All details of the MTB102 Trust can be found on http://www.mtb102.com - www.mtb102.com also a form can be downloaded with the gift aid declaration on it. It is also possible for keen savers of historic military craft to come and do their bit for Zeta. Just contact me via web site or at mailto:mtb102@ukonline.co.uk - mtb102@ukonline.co.uk
Richard.
