some time ago i promised to put some pics on of the work id done on my dads rasc , as you can see in the pictures the top cabin as been changed this had been done prior to dad purchasing the boat in 1989 , they have lived on it ever since , in the past we have run her up the humber and round the coast in to great yarmouth , in my last tread i mentioned id replaced 47 external planks and 11 internal in total , and redone all the rubbing boards , we think in her day as a patrol boat she might have been called beam,
until we started chopping out the rot we did not know the extent off the damage
mam and dad pictured in the photo are on clean up duty there in there late 60"s and they still love the boating life

That looks to be a nice job. Out of interest, what engines, gearboxes and props does she have and what performance do you get from them.
Trying to figure out the best setup for HYPERION and its good to see what others are using.
Cheers

Thanks,
My figures reckon that that should give you a max speed of about 11-12 knots with 10 being a reasonable cruise. Does this correspond to what you actually see?

Fantastic work! So good to see a boat come alive again.
Interesting work area, didnt you worry about an unexpected sluice event getting your power tools wet!
I will try to get up to Newsons, busy most weekends sailing but hopefully later in the year.
Well done, great work

Can we get this straight. This isn't a Humber Class boat, it's an Army Rivers Class Fast Launch, one of which is named Humber. If you put mistakes in print often enough you will eventually be believed.

Garth is an Army(RASC) Rivers Class Fast Launch. Humber is an Army(RASC) Rivers Class Fast Launch. There are several other survivors, all named after rivers in the UK. Humber is at Newsons Boatyard, Lowestoft in the care of The MTB102 Trust. RASC means Royal Army Service Corp if you don't already know. The RASC operated the Armys' watercraft, sometimes known as the WD Fleet.
Garth is shown as the 34th vessel in a list of the Rivers Class Fast Launches. As far as I know these vessels only displayed their name and not a number. John Cook is using a bit of "poetic licence" by displaying the number 34 on Garth.
Richard.
