Hi all. A few days ago I came across an old article in the Greek magazine "PTISI", back from 1997. The subject was about four boats that was given as a gift by the RAF in 1947,to form the first RHAF Air Sea Rescue Unit.The boats serial numbers were 1011,1012,1013,1014. I recognized them as 60ft. ASR Pinnaces, please correct me if I'm wrong.  Does anyone knows something more,or have any photos of these boats? Part from the interest in history, I'm planning to built one of them in 1/72 scale, so any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you, Constantinos |

The RAF ASR Pinnaces transferred to Greece were originally;
RAF 1246 on 15.06.45 RAF 1263 on 22.09.45 RAF 1266 on 22.09.45 RAF 1267 on 15.06.45 From RAF Marine Craft class directory vol II. |

Thanks for your response Christian. According to the article,the RHAF retained the original RAF serials and you can clearly read the 1014 in the photos.I will put my trust on your source,since there aren't any hard evidence in Greece from that era, and will assume that new serials were painted on the boats around '47,when the unit was formed and the photos were taken. Does "RAF Marine Craft class directory vol II" has any photos or drawings inside helpful to a modeller ? Thank you again. Constantinos |

I have already found these photos Christian but thank you for your time. You haven't answered me about this book of yours,does it has any material helpful to a modeler or is more concentrated to the history of these crafts? Also do you, or anybody else, know a source of good plans for a 60'ft ASR Pinace ? Cheers, Constantinos |
