Hi folks,
I'm new to the forum and not so good with computers, better with spanners and engines so you might have to bear with me a bit slow. However, Jamaican moon, the minelayer is not far from me in St Osyth so I might go and have a look this weekend. I've tried to call the vendor but apparently he's taken his phone swimming! Anyone know anything about her? Alex. |

Hi Alex Jamaican Moon was ML 357, built in 1942 in Egypt by Anglo-American Tourist Co. She is now in a good original state considering her age but is not considered seaworthy.Boats of her flotilla are mentioned in "Inshore Heroes" as the minesweepers for the Elba invasion preparations. If you're going that way, please take some snaps of her, the Ham Class IMS alongside her and also the 68ft Target Tower (a Hants and Dorset) called Calypso which should be closeby too.My e-mail address to send full-size pics to is Thanks, Christian. Hi Don Thanks for that, historic rescue works fine. She doesn't look as though she is the Swift, will try to find out ID. Certainly looks like a broad-beam even though the beam mentioned implies narrow-beam,what do you think? Regards, Christian. Edited by Christian |

Christian,
With luck I'll have an afternoon to myself in that neck of the woods next weekend so I'll liberate the girlfriend's camera for a while and see what I can get. Alex. |

Hi Christian,
The ST on ebay is likely to be Swift as the yard man says it's been around Bristol for years. Is anything known about her service record? My wife would have kittens if I brought another ST home. The chap in the yard paced out the measurements so I'm not sure what her dimensions are. Regards Don |
