Yes, i know thats going to take some of you back a long long way...
I was looking on the Movietone news site for something and ended up finding this... Story No: 32906 Movietone News you may have to register with the site but thats free, enter the story number in the search box a short film of seaplane tenders just before delivery from the makers at Hythe to the RAF. I presume its 205,206,207,208 & 209 althought you only see the hull numbers on a couple of them |

Thank you Barnacle, it's been a while since I last saw this site and they've apparently been very busy indeed. Typing mtb into the search brings up a host of fascinating stuff, especially if you like to see Fairmile Ds doing fly-bys at over 30kts! There's also excellent footage of the 40K, under the title New Torpedo Boat, plus Brave Borderer doing a Cowes-Torquay start, Norwegian Nastys, Tramontana and Tramontana II (Someone I know will want to see those), HSL2602 in the canal zone, Vosper 73ft MTBs delivering Her Majesty to Sark, Sea Rangers ex Fairmile D MA/SB Golden Hinde at Dartmouth being dedicated by HM and well, plenty of stuff to see.

As you say a great site and happy memories for me with the powerboating, a few things worth mentioning, I reckon the fast stern shots were off the "Ambra", Lettuce Curtis is a famous wartime A.T.A. Pilot who delivered heavy bombers around Britain with just an Engineer as her crew and at that time a little kid use to jump around the boats when Scrutineering was taking place, his Father was a Scrutineer and the kid was Tiff Needell, glad to see he is now reporting on the P1 offshore racing

Hi, Not movie tone but 111.45 RAF rescue boats. (142 and 122 at speed) 553.30 RAF rememberance (2749 laying a wreath) 1093 for those in peril (shots of 184) 1311.07 ASR launch. (seaplane tenders putting out a fire) 955.55 Admiraltys new torpedo boat. (MTB 102 no sound) 1.02 Navy tests new MTB's. (MGB's Gay and Gray?) There are loads more (a few similar to Movietone) they are free to preview for 7 days (I hope!) Edited by clive |

Further to my edited post above, A tip is that when the 'chicken' appears on the screen click on the line above it about security and downloading files, then choosed your option. (I thought my computer was a lot slower than normal!) |
