I am a Model boat builder and have built sometime ago a model of MTB488 a British Motor Torpedo boat built in Hythe in Hampshire UK. At the moment I am converting the model to take 2 X 26cc Zenoh Gas engines with an electric motor for the third shaft. It is to be used for a long distance off shore between Newhaven in Sussex and down to Porstsmouth and returning to Newhaven round trip of 140 or so miles. It is for the Air Ambulance. What I am trying to find out is whether there are any good photos of the boat and is there anybody alive who sailed in her, also is there a club or organization for the British Power Boats in the UK?

Hi. Puffin. As far as I could find out there are no longer any BPB MTB`s in existance except those that have been transformed into house boats or pleasure cruisers, and there is no BPB clubs except the Coastal Forces Veterans Association of which I am a member. Ted Childs Drum 1. |

Hi Puffin, My Grandfather was the Chief Motor Mechanic on MTB 488 between June 1944 & 45. If you send me your email address I can send you a scan of the original 488 photo and of the crew. There is also a video on U-tube of a model of 488. Regards,
Stormvogel
