Hi All I have been collecting 1/72 scale warships for a while now, even though there are few to choose from, perhaps that explains why I have seven "Perkasa" kits, I would love to add some of Vospers Variations, Tenacity, Ferocity, Sabre, Brave, Azteca etc, but these will have to be scratch built, I would be very greatful for any help in locating and obtaining plans with hull shapes and profiles ect. regards mike. |

Hello Mike I thought someone may have replied by now - what I will try and dig out is the web site for the Plastic Modellers -Their monthly Newsletter really is full of the detail that you may require when building in the smaller scales.I'll try and find it later today Best Of Luck Regards Edited by Pioneer |

Mike This is the link you may require- www.smallwarshipgroup.org.uk when you arrive 'click' previous issues and see if the vessel or boats that you wish to model are listed in any of the index's -then just follow the instructions for getting a copy of the article you require. Highly recommended Regards |

Hi Pioneer They certianly have the Brave class covered in several issues, and some info on the German versions, I was not expecting there to be much avalible for some of the protatype boats, there is more onthis site than most, The Azteca seems the most difficult to track, I found some images on the Mexican Navy site but not much else, I know there must be more info someware, as this boat has been seen at some of the shows, whish I had been there to grill the owner, thanks for the link, I shall study it in greater detail. regards Mike. |

Hello Mike, A lovely model - I 've traced her to be of the 22 'Azteca' class of vessels built for the Mexican Navy by various builders- this series were built between Oct 1974 (P 02) and Sept 1976 (P20). The vessel depicted by the model was built by Messrs Ailsa Shipbuilding Co and was Commissioned 19th Dec 1974 and named 'Jose Maria Izazgu' Her Displacement in tons - 130 Length 111ft 8ins Beam 28ft 3ins Draught 6ft 8ins Powered by 2 x 12 cyl Paxman 'Ventura' Diesels = 24 knts. Complement of 24. The class were ordered by Mexico for Fishery Protection on the 27 March 1973 from Associated British Machine Tool Makers Ltd who sub contracted out 5 builders. (source - Janes 1979-80) I have a very poor shot of P-04 at sea if your interested. Best Regards |

Hi Pioneer Given the scarcity of information on these vessels, I will take all the help I can get, I made contact with a chap in Veracruz yesterday, who has access to these boats, he is going to take lots of photgraphs for me at the weekend, will be great if it all works out well, I dont want to get over enthusiastic in case its a bust. Do you think if I approched Associated British Machine Tool Makers Ltd, they might let me have a copy of the drawings? regards Mike. |

Mike I have found that 'if you don't ask - you don't get' - Yes, do try as apart from the obvious gains that you may receive I also have found that most Coy's like the extra 'coverage' and try and assist even beyond what you would expect. Do keep us informed Mike Ted |

Hi Ted Just as an aside, I have found out since my last post, that this ship is made in kit form by Metcalf Mouldings in 1/32 scale under the title P B Azteca, so I have approched them for any drawings they might provide. As far as I can see Associated British Machine Tool Makers Ltd and nearly all of the sub contractors are out of business or have become part of some larger concern, this could be a long hunt. Many thanks for your help Regards Mike |
