When I visited the Chatham Historic Dockyard down in Kent last year I saw what looked like a Fairmile by the dockyards pontoon, does anyone know more about it? From what I remember it had been converted, not too heavily though I think

Hello Robert To my knowledge there are only 2 Fairmile MGB survivors (C-Type);
Xoron at Bembridge (ex MGB 321) and Eidolon (ex MGB 325); http://www.nhsc.org.uk/index.cfm/event/getVessel/vref/519 Any chance of a pic of the boat you saw? Edited by Christian |

I spotted these 2 Hulls at Rochester UK earlier this year - a poor image I know - but the rear most Hull had 483 painted on the Bow - the Black Hull had a name that I was unable to read (they ain't what they used to be:( Edited by Pioneer |

Hi Pioneer These look to be ex Ham Class inshore minesweepers,beamier aft than a Fairmile B and no portholes.The grey one looks to be very original. Links to a couple of other very original Hams for sale http://commercial.apolloduck.co.uk/feature.phtml?id=21717 and http://www.maritimesales.com/SBP10.htm this second one could be the grey one you pictured.She was for sale in Belgium. A lovely Ham conversion(listed as a Fairmile) http://www.mondialbroker.com/brokers/646/G/13463_1_69.jpg Edited by Christian |

some sad news indeed! One of the last fairmiles's ML162 was towed off to be broken last week. Made an attempt to save her and so did a few dutch guys but the broads authority had made up thier minds and history and determination cant stand in the way of politics. They made this decision just before they increased the chocolate ration from 30grammes to 25grammes i think. I'm glad sir Winston S cant see this happenning Edited by jimmy p |

A boat is a hole in the water surrounded by wood, into which one throws money
