I am a new boy to the Forum - but not to the BMPT website - I would welcome any help and advice on buying/restoring and locating a Seaplane Tender - I am only in the early stages at looking at the possibility of owning an SP at the moment - Having just taken early retirement - but all advice/comments welcome. Many Thanks Bob. |

Hi Bobster,
I'm restoring a little BPB seaplane tender. I've got a small site at www.rania.co.uk/ST where there are photos of the boat, it's restoration and some other seaplane tenders. It's a starting point. The advice I'll give you is buy the best one you can find. The main problem I've had is freshwater (rain) ingress that damaged in 3 places the double diagonal planking. They are cracking boats though. If you find more than one for sale, do let me know! Good luck Don |

Hi Bob,
There is one on ebay at the moment. See the MTB forum link below, it's at the bottom of the page. http://www.bmpt.org.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=144&PN= 1&TPN=7 She has no engines but that is really no problem. Superstructure not at all original too. I'd imagine there will be a bit of intertest in her. Cheers Don |

Hi Bob,
Re the ebay boat: At 41'6" she is a Seaplane tender and not a HSL. It is very unlikely that she was ever armed and would have been originally fitted with Meadows 100hp petrol engines. If you look at page 2 of the topic above, you'll see a photo of a HSL that is just about to rot away. If you look at www.rania.co.uk/ST there are links to lots of photos of her under the HSL145 links in the "other boats" section. Also look at the links to HSL 2548 abandoned in Spain. Cheers Don Cheers Don |

The steel hull put me off (not that'd I'd want it) there's something about the wooden double or tripple diagronal hulls. Have you been to look at any other possibles?

Hi rozm2 Think I have located an ST (With a stuck on Cruiser Cabin) But check with DGray first as i sent him the pics to check if she is the real thing! The Marina she is in wants to burn her,(Ownership Issues/Dry Berth Fees) If you want pics check the members list for my e-mail Address and i will send them on to you. She is in Loch Lomond Marina in Balloch,Dumbartonshire...so a bit away from you... Jim
