It always seems a shame with a hand built wooden model that all the Craftsmanship in the planking of the boat and the time taken to do it is painted over

Yes - I quite agree - I do think however that when this model is finally completed, if it is possible to view it 'in the flesh' so to speak - I'm sure the dedication to detail will show through. I still marvel at the detail in the Bridge for example (not quite captured at the 50k max for this site).

Here is a fairly recent shot of the model HMS Gay Charger, being built by Ted Childs. She has been 'laid up' for several reasons, but work on her oncemore is now underway. Although this shot does not do her justice you can see that a lot of detail work has been done on the Mast and Radar array (the support Stanchions have yet to be fitted). I am looking forward to when she is finished and making her rounds at the modelling shows - well done Ted.

The model of HMS Gay Charger gets her feet wet for the first time. No leaks reported (just a wet test say's Ted C)

A shot of HMS Gay Archer from a different angle. Taken on the same day as above - showing the Radar Array fitting. Well done Ted - looking forward for an up to date image
