As some may of guessed, and others may know already, I'm the current caretaker of the White Lady, the MSPB that was for sale by newsons until recently.
She was built at Thornycroft of London and is constructed of double diagonal planked mahogany over oak frames as opposed to most earlier vessels which appear to be Teak Carvel and a Mahogany Diag inner layer. She was stationed at Port Edgar (HMS Lochinvar) from 43-68 before being transfered to south wales in the navy reserves, then from 1971 she became QHM Launch in devonport before finally being sold to Brundall, Norfolk in 1981, I eventually bought her this year. She still has her original Gardner 6LWs However a bit of mystery has been brought into the mix today by the owner of 44320, which also spent most of her time in devonport as one of his sources records the MSPB QHL of the day being broken up after hitting a submarine towing bouy. ![]() |

Hi there,
Very nice indeed, seen here on the Newsons site before, I am going to ask what dose MSPB stand for? applies to the ex HMS Nuthatch else where on the forum, as ever if you are on the Medway, give Chatham Marina a call in advance and we will see what we can do.
(by the way I am not on commission re Chatham, just like to see interesting vessels)

it appears 44322 was the original QHM Launch which hit the submarine towing bouy and was wrecked.

John, just curious did you see White Lady when you were up at Newsons earlier this year or did you just stay inside and look at Spitfire?

Hi Whitelady,
Yes, had the tour of Spitfire with Keith and then had to go to see SS Robin at Small and Co down river, so no did not see her then, was there a couple of years ago now with with friends who were looking at berthing there and vaguely remember seeing her afloat then.
